Katherine Fletcher MP Visit to MSP

On Friday 27th November, our school welcomed a special guest to our school to talk to us about her job: our MP Katherine Fletcher.

Katherine contacted our class - Class 3 (years 5 and 6) as we had signed up to take part in Parliament Week. Katherine wanted to help us with our project and to answer any questions that we had for her. She was really helpful and answered - very honestly - some tricky questions that we asked her. Our project is to help the homeless people in Liverpool by making care packages for them which include items such as basic food items, water, warm clothes, blankets sleeping bags and a message of hope. We wrote a HUGE letter to Katherine (as we believe that it is HUGELY important) to outline our plans and to ask about the Government’s response to homelessness. We have also been writing to large companies asking for their support. We are hoping to get a really positive response. We have made contact with the rugby team at Edge Hill University who do a great deal of work out in the community supporting the homeless and they have kindly agreed to distribute our care packages in Liverpool in the New Year.

We are also reaching out to our parents and local community, asking if anyone has old coats, jumpers, scarves and hats that they no longer want. These will need to be adult sizes. We are also collecting sleeping bags and blankets, so if you do have any of these items, the children in class 3 would be really grateful of your support. We will however take the necessary C-19 precautions when handling these items.

Thank you in advance for your support.
