Early Years Education
Welcome to Little Acorns Pre-School
Established in 1999 and located within the grounds of St Peter’s C of E School, Little Acorns Pre-School has grown into a highly regarded and well-attended setting, serving Mawdesley and the surrounding area.
This year has been especially exciting for us, as Little Acorns has become part of the Mawdesley St Peter’s Family!
Our attractive and welcoming learning environment helps children feel at home from their very first day. Our experienced and caring staff support every child as they settle in, encouraging early social skills, confidence, and independence.
At Little Acorns, we believe in learning through play. Carefully chosen activities and resources help spark curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning from the very beginning.
Now that we’re part of St Peter’s School, our nursery and reception teams work closely together to make sure every child enjoys a smooth and happy transition as they move on to the next stage of their education.
Our purpose-built modular building, completed in 2019, provides a fantastic space for children to learn, explore, and have fun.
Welcome to Wren Class
We’re incredibly proud of our Wren Class, which is made up solely of our Reception children — a small, close-knit group of up to 15 pupils.
Having a single-age Reception class means we can really focus on developing those vital early skills that form the foundation of your child’s education. With such a small class, we’re able to get to know each child individually, helping them to feel confident, happy, and excited about learning and school life.
Our Reception class is taught by Mrs. McClean, who has many years of experience in Early Years education and a real passion for helping children thrive. We’re delighted to share a welcome video and tour of our Reception classroom so you can see the wonderful environment for yourself.
In our Wren Class, we aim to provide the highest quality care and education, giving every child a strong foundation for their future learning.
We create a safe, happy, and inspiring environment with engaging, creative, and enjoyable learning experiences that help children grow in confidence and independence.
Learning in our Wren Class is hands-on and full of discovery. The children love to investigate, explore, and learn through play — both indoors and outdoors. Each week, they take part in Forest School sessions, led by Mrs. McClean, our trained Forest School teacher. You can see a glimpse of these wonderful outdoor adventures in our video!
Children are encouraged to think creatively in all areas of learning — during adult-led sessions, continuous provision, and outdoor play. Our outdoor area includes a vegetable patch and gardening space, giving the children plenty of opportunities to explore nature and learn about the world around them.
